Over the last couple of years, paid surveys really seem to have taken the internet by storm as various services pop up here and there offering incentives in return for the completion of what is commonly known as a ’survey form’.
Basically, this means that you could earn cash by simply answering a few questions from your computer.
Skeptics automatically think that these paid survey sites must be a scam when they are described in simple terms. The thinking is that why would anyone be willing to pay somebody for taking a few minutes to answer a couple of questions?
When it is put in simple terms, paid survey sites do seem a bit shady. However, if you are in the marketing business you will understand the motivation behind companies paying for surveys a little bit more. You can describe paid surveys in two words: market research.
The bottom line is that all the attention over paid surveys simply adds up to good old fashioned market research. Just about any company that sells a product or offers a service is going to need some sort of market research. If someone is at all interested in selling anything it is in their best interest to know as much as they possibly can about the market they are selling to.
And so companies happily pay for such information. It could be something as simple as information about what type of lipstick teenage girls like to wear, or what types of toys parents are most willing to buy for their children.
Within the broad scope of market research, businesses need information to make major decisions. Would you want to spend millions of dollars creating a product only to find your target market has no interest in it?
It no longer seems far fetched that people are willing to pay for valuable information through market research.
At the end of the day, it certainly seems that paid survey sites are here to stay. Judging by all the new sites that seem to appear on an almost daily basis, they seem to be gaining in strength.
However, you should take note that not every paid survey site pays cash. There are paid surveys that pay with incentives such as discounts or prizes as opposed to cash.
Still, for anyone willing to spend some time filling out a few surveys daily, there is the potential for quite a bit of profit to be made, and no small amount of goodies to be earned on top of that, just to sweeten the pot.
Who knows what will come next from the paid survey department, but in an increasingly competitive market, research such as that provided by paid surveys is all the more valuable, and companies are certain to continue to desire it.
